WHO HAS BEEN TO THE MOST 100 SPORTING EVENTS YOU MUST SEE LIVE?

I am trying to find out which person has been to the most events listed in the book. Right now the most I have found was 50! A few people are right up there with Dr. Harvey Schiller, Jim Steeg, and Lesley Visser vying for the most. If anyone has over 40 events from the list, let me know. 1. I played college ball for Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL and actually played against the Detroit Tigers at Tigertown in Lakeland. Its tradition every year that the first game of the Tiger's spring training is against Florida Southern College. I was an amazing experience, the Tiger's are a really classy organization.

  2. I found your list to be extremely different and unique but was disappointed to see that Wrestlemania was not listed. The atmosphere and adrenaline is amazing.

  3. It is hard for me to believe that the Daytona 500 would be higher on the list than the Indy 500 and Grand Prix of Monaco. Indy may have lost a little luster the past decade, but it remains the world's largest single-day sporting event with around 300,000 in attendance. The tradition, ceremonies, and flying start down the canyon of humanity is unlike anything in the world.

  4. I've been to 21 of your events. Without having read the book yet, however, wondering what the significance of MNF at Dallas is, as compared to other MNF games or even the Thanksgiving Day game in Dallas. The MNF atmosphere is definitely a scene at any stadium.

  5. Here is my list - 8...it isn't 21 but working towards it. Also, I'm in Canada, so some of the events are a bit tougher to get to (anything on the west coast).

    78. Cowboys Monday Night Football Game in Buffalo (a little cheating)
    67. NFL Draft
    55. Baseball Game at Fenway Park
    43. Calgary Stampede
    30. Canadiens vs. Maple Leafs in Toronto
    29. Late Season Green Bay Packers Game at Lambeau Field
    14. Cubs Game at Wrigley Field
    1. Masters

  6. A VERY subjective list and the author does not give a great deal of insight on the best ways to attend a given event; just a big promo for gotickets.com.

    Why no NBA Finals?

Opening day at any MLB stadium is always special not just Cincy? Boston - Cubs - Dodgers - NYY come to mind.

  7. [...] full list is right here on Tuchman’s website, and the author is trying to find someone who has seen 40 or more of these events [...]

  8. "A VERY subjective list"
So? There's no definitive way to create an official list of this kind. Any list will be subjective; how can that be a criticism?

  9. I've been to 29, and a few of my great sports events/days not on this list include--

10/28/95-in one of only two Fla-Ga games not played in Jacksonville (since 1933), I attended the historic Fla-Ga game in Athens, GA when the Gators laid "half a hundred" on the 'dawgs "between the hedges". That's never done before and hasn't been done since (Fla won 52-17). But what made 10/28/95 extra special was that I was with a good friend, a fellow big Gator fan and he was also a lifelong huge Atlanta Braves fan.
SO...as soon as the final gun sounded we ran to our car and drove to Atlanta's Fulton County Stadium to arrive in time for World Series Game Six where the Braves finally won a World Series in a classic 1-0 series clinching win over the Cleveland Indians.

Now that's a once in a lifetime great sports day attending two historic sports events!

  10. 5 6 7 9 12 14 20 22 28 39 48 55 56 66 70 76 86 90 97 is what I have
    >>> under my belt

  11. i have only been to 2 of these events but hope to go to a lot more. here are the ones i've been to.

    9. Red Sox vs. Yankees at Yankee Stadium
(unfortunately the yanks lost 10-3 but it was on the 4th of july and it was my 1st baseball game!)

    86. Harlem Globetrotters Performance
(i thought this was a funny performance. i caught a ball and was able 2 throw it back. i was impressed by their tricks but there is a reason why they're doing that and its cuz they're not good enough to make nba. overall, i didn't love it cuz its staged and im not sure if staged sports events should be in top 100)

  12. Great list. I have been to 12 events on the list.

I was surprised not to see Il Palio (horse race in Siena). What an amazing spectacle!

  13. 12. i have been to 11, would strongly suggest you consider the following: a) Palio in Siena-- there is simply nothing quite like it...the race itself, plus the 2-3 days of lead up and the emotional aftermath..simply extraordinary...check out on youtube; b) St. Joe's vs. Villanova at the Palestra; c)a GAA final-- hurling or gaelic football-- at Croke Park (this year it would be the football final-- Kerry vs. Cork...82,000 fans in a country of 4 million).
